I used to describe this as the tab from hell, but it isn't quite that bad. There's just a hell of a lot of notes.
It's all 5th position and above, which means use a capo on fret 5 if you have one. I tabbed this without one and I think my brain has snapped a synapse. Or my hand has snapped a tendon. Or something.
Some tabs where capos are used, "re-adjust" their reference points, so that the fret with the capo becomes the new nut of the neck (i.e. "fret zero"). Then "1" means one fret above the capo (fret 6 in this case), and so on. Well, if you hadn't guessed already, I tend not to follow standard tabbing practice. In some cases, that's because I just made up my own way, and then found out later it wasn't standard. In this case, I actually prefer my way -- the 5th fret is still the 5th fret to me, whether or not there's a damn capo there. So my fret numbers are written as though I am ignoring that there is a capo on fret 5. But don't be fooled. Use a capo, OK?
At least it's in standard tuning (small mercies). Last thing -- because this song is just so chockfull of notes, I've had to make subjective choices here and there about leaving some subtle things out, e.g. some very subtly picked notes, or some slides that occur while another string is being picked or whatever. If you can figure out where I've had to simplify, then you are on the road to being your own tabber!

Anyway, from here you mosey on into.... *Verse: E ------------------------------------------------------------- B --------8------------8------------8------------8------------ G --------5-5----------5-5----------5-5----------5-5----------- D ------5------------5------------5------------5--------------- A ----7------------7------------7------------7------------------- E --8---------7--5---------7--8---------7--5---------7---------- The above is how it is played the very first time through, ending the ascension on the high G rather than the higher C on the top string. After that, it just mutates into E --------8------------8------------8------------8-------------- B --------8------------8------------8------------8------------ G --------5-5----------5-5----------5-5----------5-5----------- D ------5------------5------------5------------5--------------- A ----7------------7------------7------------7-------7-8---------- E --8---------7--5---------7--8---------7--5------------------- E --------5--5--5-----7------------------8-----5^7-----7---- B --------6--6---6------8----8--8----------8-------8-----8-- G ------5-5--5-----5------7--5--5--5---------5-------7-----5- D ----7-------------------------------5--------5-------5---- A --8------------------------------------------------------- E ---------------------------8-----------8------------------ E ------------------------7-------------5-------------5----- B ------(8------------------8-------------5-------------6--- G -------(5-----5-------5-----7------5------5------5------5- D --------(5------5---7---5--------7-------------7---------- A -------------7----8--------------------------8------8----- E ---8---------------------------5------5------------------- The ( notes are picked rapidly, almost like a strum or "roll". All the verses are slightly different in their fingering, but only slightly. You can use the tab provided above as a blueprint for the rest. The only major departure comes in the instrumental section, so, yes, I've tabbed that too. *Break: E ---------8---8---------------------7---7---------5------ B ---------8---8---------------------5---5---------5------ G ------5----7--------5-5---5------5---9---------5------5-- D ----7-------------7-----5------9-------------9------9---- A --8-------------8-----7---------------------------------- E -----------------------------5-------------5---------- E -------------------5----------------------5----------- B -------------6-----6----------------6-----6------------ G -------------5----------------------5----------------- D ---------7---------------------7------------------------ A ----7^8---------8---------7^8----------8--------------- E ------------------------------------------------------- E -------8---------8--------7--------7-------- B -------8---------8--------8--------8------ then back into G ----5---------5----------------------------- the C/Aminor D ------------------------5--------5-------- progression A --7--------7---------5--------5------------ twice, then E ------------------------------------------- ........ Back to the verse and keep on going. Game over, man, game over.
